stiff breaks

    i just replaced the break lines from the praportioning valve to the frount breaks on my 88' dakota and now the pedle is stiff does anyone have any ideas why this would happen

    The brake booster is bad,(unlikely),or the proportioning valve is stuck to one side.This happens a lot when you open 1/2 of the system.To reset the valve,usually you can have someone help you,bleeding the brakes will usually reset the valve,by relieving the pressure(bleeding,while the helper really presses hard on the pedal,it will usually reset the valve.Try this,it should work,good luck.
