spreader salt/sand mix

    I'm looking for a very cheap spreader, tailgate, anyone know of one?? also i have some semi - large commercial parking lots that i will be spreading with a salt/sand mix. any advice how to go about mixing it?? spread it? how much salt mix with sand??

    Depends on what you're trying to do. If it's just to keep the sand from freezing & clumping, then about 1:9 (salt to sand) will do it. If you're wanting melting action, then about 1:4 to 1:1. The more salt, the more melting you'll get.
