I did a brief search on this unit, found a little info. Was wondering what the guys running this spreader think about it? I am using Magic Salt, and it tends to be a little damp by nature.

I have a chance at a seemingly great deal on a like new unit, so your responses are, as always, much appreciated.

BTW, I've seen SaltDogg TGS07 spreaders go from $1350 to $2600 NEW depending on dealer. What do the SPEEDCASTER 2 units cost new?

I believe western has the same unit. Can't remember which is cheaper. I don't really know how good or bad this units are. But if you are going to run bulk a 2 stage spreader is the best way to go about it.

I have a 2yd stainless Torwell in my one ton dump. The Speedcaster is for doing a half dozen larger driveways/small parking lots.

I'm really just looking for a performance review on the Fisher Speedcaster 2

Decent unit.....Owned several a few years back....Never spread "Magic" salt through the units...Mostly ran bulk salt through them....

Just make sure the adjusters are free and working and not all rusted and seized up....

Thanks TJ. I'm sure you're aware that Magic Salt is just a treated bulk salt. It is done by the source I get it from and not the factory so it tends to be a little moist, but it also stays granular, and doesn't clump.

Looking for something that will "feed" salt to the spinner and not just rely on gravity or a vibrator.

Yes..i aware Magic is treated...I see guys running straight sand through these units so it might not have an issue with magic........Also, make sure conveyor belt is in good condition along with the drive belt........Good Luck in your search

I have the Western Proflo 2 same spreader and love it. Can spread bulk, sand salt mix, and 1/4" ice control chips with no problems.

You can run the Ice B Gone Magic thru the sppedcaster 2 with no problem. You can also use the Snowex 1575/1875 or most with a vibrator.

Thanks all for your responses. The jerk never wrote me back about the sale of the spreader anyway. :-(
