How do you tell if an 05 F250 has snowplow prep on them. I assume they offer an option like Chevy, how do you tell?

Take the VIN number to a ford dealer and have them check it.

Some plow upgrades are done at the dealerships. I think the only thing they do at the dealer is put in heavier front springs.

I think the plow prep package includes 6k front springs..leaf or coil.

And also an upgraded Altenator w/two batts....and maybe a larger tranny cooler.

My 05 250 came with the dealer installed prep. Only added heavier springs and HD alternator. No twin batteries.

Same here, but it's not a diesel, it's a 5.4, which I happen to really like. Not sure if the diesel would get the extra battery with that pkg!

The diesel would come with the second battery.

I thought factory plow prep came with cab clearance lights. Maybe they changed it sometime.

Yes. The plow prep on a diesel doesn't really give you anything, but the dealer recommended I get it in case of any warranty issues. They do discount the cost for vehicles that already have some of the extras.

Diesel's come stock with the dual batt setup.

5.4 are good reliable motors...but are dogs compared to a diesel.

    What about heavier springs???

Diesel's frong GVWR can be rated anywhere from 4800# - 6000#

So if you have a Diesel with the FGVWR @ 4800# and get a plow prep package...they will give out 6000# springs.
