I have a 1984 TORO 525 Snow blower. Last night I went to blow a very heavy lump of snow, and the engine starting making gun shot noises, then stalled.

Now, it runs fine, but if I push down the auger lever, it stalls out.

I can turn the auger and whatever you call the things up front taht gather the snow by hand.

What I can tell however is the shaft is loose, if I grab it I can make it go about 2 inches in any direction.

Any idea what to do? did my shaft fall out or something?

    Thank you!!!

There is a bearing that holds the auger shaft.
take the 2 top bolts out and seperate the machine slightly, take the auger belt off and you can check to see if there is movement in the bearing..

also check to be sure the pully is tight on the shaft.

    Thumbs Up
