skid plates

    do you always take the skid plates off when you do a stone driveway?

    First off, I think what you mean are "shoes". Second, what you mean by "stone " driveway. If its the "loose" gravel type. I would leave the shoes on. Less chance of making a mountain out of gravel.
    If its a "perminant" stone, than there are a few things you can do.
    1- Keep the blade an inch off the ground to prevent catching or scraping.
    2- Back drag as much as poissible.
    3- Buy a rubber or poly cutting edge and use that.
