I was looking at a 2003 silverado K1500 long bed with 28,044 miles, a 4.8L and a 5 speed manual. It is an LS with climate control, CD player, power everything. Asking price is $16,999. I have heard that these trucks get good mileage especially with the standard trans. Does anyone plow with the 4.8? My buddy has a 99 2wd ext cab with the 4.8 and it has a ton of power. What gear options are with the 4.8? I really love this truck and would like to buy it. Sorry no pics. Any advice is appreciated

Depending on the gearing I have heard of lots of them getting 18-19 on the freeway.

Personaly I have a 99 chevy ECSB for my daily driver. It has a 5.3 auto and 3.73 gears. With my wait4me custom tune I am able to pull about 17 on the freeway. Before the tune I got in the 15 mpg range.

As for the plowing I am not sure, never tried it with my truck and have never driven a 4.8.

Just as a prospective. I just sold my 2001 2500HD with 70k miles on it, reg cab with my plow for 15k. If I were you, I'd keep looking.

Hold out for a 2500HD if you're gonna hang a plow on it...

    If you have a MY 2000, it's a 2500. The 2500HD's were not produced until 2001.

Yes, the 2500 had a 8600 GVW in 2001 as well. The 2500HD had a 9200 GVW. It also had available, the Duramax or 8100 Big Block and Allison tranny for the first time as well as bigger brakes and hydroformed front frame.

Yep. Head & shoulders over the previous engine.
