Bought a truck with an 8' MM2 with a steel cutting edge in pretty good shape. Currently doesn't have any shoes on it. I plan to plow for municipality and was wondering if you guys would leave it as-is or put a set of shoes on it to reduce wear on edge. I notice most guys around here doing commercial and municipal run with no shoes. Also, would steel wool be a good idea to remove surface rust/pitting from cutting edge?

Shoes are a good idea if you want the edge off the ground.

If you plow for a city or a state they want you to plow without any shoes on your plows your better off plowing without them you will get better results.
