My salt spreader quit on me. I got it installed a month ago and after that tested it and it worked fine. Havent had any salt in it yet. I go to hook it up yesterday and i hear the solenoid clicking underneath my hood, but the auger is not spinning. I put my mulitmeter on the connector and im getting about 6 volts from it. Im not sure what I am supposed to get, but i know its higher than that. Maybe i burned up the solenoid>???
There are no fuses, but im at a loss at the moment. And I have to lay down salt on a couple lots in the AM

check the voltage on both sides of the solenoid. it should be 12 volts on the one side when off and on both sides when turned on.

Try posting a little info about the make and model. For all we know you are using a walk behind with Christmas lights and the lights just won't turn on.

Check connections? Does it spin freely by hand? Gently tap the solenoid?
