Bought a 2005 gmc c6500 with a payload of 20k. It has a 18 ft dump body on it now and plan on cutting it down to 16tt for summer use. Want to build a subframe for the winter to mount the salter on. Any suggestions on type of spreader, size and subframe designs?

I would look at salt dogg or Monroe spreaders. Most of the Dot around Kansas City uses Monroe spreaders and plows.

true but...not all DOTs buy the best...they buy what's cheapest.

Yeah I agree with that, I was just saying what I've seen for larger spreaders around my area.

Monroe is a way better product than salt dog.

Swenson used to make a good spreader...not sure about the newer ones....haven't seen any of them.
