salt and sand

    This is my 1st year buying bulk salt and have a question on sand. Cn you mix the 2 together? If so whats the mix.

    Around here, sand/salt is mixed somewhere around 85/15-80/20 Sand/Salt ratio. Salt is more for keeping the sand from freezing than melting snow/ice.

    We mix it about 70% sand to 30% salt

    The next town over is mixing it 12 to 1 this year. This is significantly hotter than last year. Apparently they had some clumping problems. I mix mine about 10 to 1. The more thoroughly it's blended, the colder you can mix it, too.
