Outline of the minimum rated warning device needed on a particular vehicle.

Class 1 -- Requests Right of Way -- Minimum primary warning devices use on authorized emergency vehicles responding to emergency situations. (i.e Fire Trucks)

Class 2 -- Warns of hazard -- Minimum primary warning devices for use on authorized maintenance and service vehicles (i.ei Tow Trucks)

Class 3 -- Non-Highway Vehicles -- Minimum primary warning devices for use on vehicles authorized to display flashing warning lamps for identification only (i.e. Landscaping trucks or privately owned snowplow trucks)

Secondary -- Supplemental Warning -- Warning devices of lower performance that can be used to provide additional warning signal to tat provided by the primary warning device.
