I have a 98 S10, automatic. Sometimes the rpm's jump as if it's downshifting, but just for about 2 seconds. Other than that it shifts smoothly. Fluid is clean and proper level. Any help?

Kinda sounds like torque convertor unlocking and relocking. Maybe an electrical issue with the switches that control it..? It should unlock if you give it gas.... then lock again at cruise speed.

    Thanks for the reply.
It is usually between 3rd and 4th (or 2nd and 3rd?), about 35 mph. If I'm accelerating, no problem, ok at slow speeds, and fine when it locks up at high speeds.
Do you know where I should start looking for electrical connections? Some on the tranny? Other places?
