Rear rotors on '99 Chevy Silverado 4x4...

    ...how do you remove them and is it necessary to replace the disc retaining washer on the new rotors?

    just remove the 2 washer clips on the studs. Use a slide hammer with a hook if you have acsess. Other wise just give them a rap with a hammer and you should be able to wiggle them off. The only reason those clips are on the studs holding the rotor on, is so the rotors dont fall off at the factory when the truck is turned on its side during assembly. No need to reinstall:waving:

    The rear rotors are big bucks for the GM ones. Be careful not to wreck them. The parking ring are only good for using when stopped, trust me don't try stopping with them you will be kissing them goodbye.

    Yeah there is not a whole lot of pad there for hard use. I should mention when removing the rotors, sometimes the rotors will hang up on the e-brake shoes and it will be nessesary to back them off. There is only a little clip that holds them in place, and a 5/16 self taping screw that brakes very easily, if the bolt brakes, you have to pull the axle to E-z out the bolt,
