Purchased this unit beginning of season and think it is great. Only probem i am having is that it drops too much material right under the chute as the shield is not close enough even when adjusted forward and it seems like a nice aplication rate would be spinner on #9 and auger on #4or 5.I realize this is not possible because of one motor, anybody having the problems I am having? I think a shield that is round like on the tailgate spreaders would work much better, any thoughts?

I spread 70/30 sand salt mix that is fairly wet (kept under tarp) I find with mine that it spreads best on 4 or 5. I see your point about the auger speed and spinner speed also it would be great if it had two motors, if I turn mine on 9 it spreads a two foot wide trail that favors the passenger side of my truck. Having said this other than the controller which seems to have a mind of its own and been built by Fisher Price the unit works great for me.
