pump oil

    I have a older fisher with the pump belt driven can you use transmission fluid in the pump with out hurting it or will there be any other effects to using it.

    Years ago I had similair set-up and used atf for many seasons with no problems. Later I switched to thicker hyd. oil and that worked good in a worn pump.

    That's all I used with the belt pump. Really don't need low temp oil because the pump is in the engine compartment.

    I used trans fluid for 4 yrs without any probs.....
