I'm looking for some direction to pre-treat bulk salt. Would it be better to spray the pile as I place it into storage or pre-wet at the spinner. What material/ratio have you guys had the best results with.

I pre-wet at the spinner, this way, if the temps are warm enough to make the liquid unnecessary, I'm not wasting it. But I also am carrying it on the truck anyways to treat walks, so it's easier for me to hit the salt with it as I'm spreading.

Subscribed. I'm thinking of doing the same. If you pretreat the pile do you have to mix some sort of binding agent with the liquid so that it does settle out?

The salt can only hold so much liquid on its surface, the excess will just run off.Thats why when spraying at the spinner with say brine or cc you can use more,it still ends up on ground where you want it. Products like clearlane or magic o are thicker and sticky so a ton of salt can hold 6 gallons of so wihout any runoff.
