Possible? 1986 f250 mount to 1996 -- conventional mount

I just bought an older plow off a 1986 ford with mount kit #1340. I see from the install docs that the model year range for the #1340 mount is "1980 & Later".

However, the Western site also lists mount #1290. That mount is specified for model year "1992 & Later".

Does anyone know if the #1340 kit will work with my 1996 F250 (4x4)?

    Thanks!

just last year i went through this exact same thing. i had an 86 F250 and wanted to swap the entire western setup onto a 96 F350.

80-91 f250/f350 has different front frame horns than the 92-97 f250/f350.

i was lucky enough to find a 92-97 mount. if i didn't, i would have modified my 80-91 mount to fit.

here's a couple of pics i took a while back for someone looking for pictures of the conventional frame on a 92-97 truck.

the links you posted from the western site also illustrates the differences, but here are some real pictures.

I think I have a similar problem, will a 1987 F-350 Unimount fit on a 1993 superduty? I could not find any info on Western website.
