We want to mount a poly edge on a 8' western with snow wings.

Will this work? Do i need to cut the poly at the snow wing?

Do i need to change the pins on the snow wings?

Has anyone done this? Any thoughts or help would be great!!

You'll just replace the rubber with poly.

You don't run 1 piece across the whole plow and wings, if that's what you're asking.

    Been done, works well.

No, I know you can replace the rubber on the wings. That is not

the problem. The problem is that the wings touch the edge of the

steel blade. Now when i add the poly it will be out 1.5-2". Now

how will the snow wings fit back on? Maybe that makes more

    sense?

    I gotcha.

I would add a longer pin to the plow wings and some material to bridge the plow wing to plow gap before I would separate the main cutting edge.

(We use our plows without wings sometimes. If you'll never remove the wings, you could get away with cutting the main edge.)

I would cut the edge to fit between the wings.
BRL mounted his u edge and then had to refab the wing mounts.
I mounted my edge before the winger were added, so I worked around the mess.

i wrestled with this same situation last year and decided to install the u edge full length and then cut the metal on the wing away so it can still sit close to the plow, i sometimes use my plow without the wings on and i want it to function then as well.

in a similar note i had to do a similar thing to a two meter plow that i put wings on, i had to cut away some of the wing to make the profile fit close to the moldboard

    Soilmover,
E-mail or PM me with your E-mail addy & I'll send you pix.
Basically you install the edge with no extra on the ends. Remove the rubber edges on the wings. Then cut the wing to fit, then weld an extension onto the main pin that goes through the mold board. Now you can match the rubber wing edges (or even better, replace them with urethane) and bolt them back on & plow away. You can probably cut a bigger chunk of the wing away to avoid having to extend the pin.

I want the opption to remove the wings and still plow.So i have to

re-work the wings around the poly edge. The wings are already

on. I just have to mount the edge and re-work the wing to fit it.

Any more thought would be great!
