plow won't float

    my western unimount will not float. it drops untill you let go of the joystick. i know its not the joystick i swapped it out with a different one. any ideas why?

    Your plow wont float unless theres a lifejacket on it! :D

    Try another Joystck, Float is a function of the joystick.

    Make sure the controller you are using HAS the float function. You may have an early style controller that does not have the float function. Good luck, PT.

    I agree that it is in the controller. To float, a constant voltage needs to be applied to the solenoid to keep the valve open. Once the power is removed, the valve closes and the lift ram is locked. Something in the controller is cutting the power to the solenoid.

    With my experience on this I had a loose wire at the plug where the plow connects to the truck.
    I went up front of my truck wiggled with wires and the plow came smashing down nearly removing a toe -_-.
    Clean your 9 pin harness plug and remove all corrosion and check for bare or broken lines.

    I figured it wouldn't float because it wasn't buoyant.

    Guess I was wrong.

    I do know for a fact that Bobcats don't float because they aren't buoyant.
