Plow: Fisher Minute Mount 2 8ft

So I put my plow on yesterday to make sure everything worked after sitting for the summer and of course something went wrong.

    The plow raises no problem.

The Plow raises when trying to angle left.

The Plow will "try" to angle right, but will no go far and returns to straight.

    The Plow lowers no problem.

I have tried two different controllers(fish stick and joy stick) and tried cleaning the solenoid connections. Neither made a difference.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

    Thanks,
    Tim

So, I tested S1,S2,S3 for Magnetism.

S1 (closest to drivers side) has magnetism at all times when the power is on.

S2 (middle) is magnetized when I angle right, not left though.

S3 (Far right, pass. side) magnetizes when plow is raised or lowered.

I also noticed if I angle left while plow is all the way lowered, it will raise and then drop.

It still won't angle right, but it moves a little.

    One last thing.

I was planning to change the fluid today. I'm not sure if that will add to my problems though.

If I take the angle ram hoses off and drain them. I won't be able to angle the plow aftewards to bleed the system.

Congrats on doing your homework.

The S2 isn't being shifted when it should. Likeyly a broken wire (light green) or bad #4 pin in the grill connector. Use a test light and a helper to work your way from the controller plug to the S2. Somewhere along there you'll find there's no power.

Unfortunately, I couldn't get anyone to help me yesterday.

I did hook up my buddy's plow today while he was at work and everything worked great. So, I know the problem is on the plow not the truck.

I called a fisher dealer and the have the wire harness in stock for $66, so I might just run down and grab it.

I am still wondering why it won't angle right. It almost seems stuck, it goes a few inches and will return to straight when you release the button.

Because the S2 isn't being shifted. Hydro pressure is building against it but without out it open can't go anyway...like to the angle ram.

    Ok, Thanks.

I just got back and replaced the harness. Nothing changed. Not sure what the next step is, replace S2?

Just because you replaced the grill connector doesn't mean the real issue isn't somewhere else in the harness. Especially if you haven't check it with a test light as I mentioned. Go back to the info in post #4.

I replaced the entire harness, not just the connector. It came with the ground wire(s) and the power wires for the coils.

And did you check it for power at the S2 after you installed the new harness? As it may not be a harness issue either. That's why post #4 is important. Saves from buying parts you don't need.

Not yet, I got pissed off and walked away. :D

I'll get back into it tomorrow when it's light out.

Is S2 the only one that should have power when trying to angle the blade.

    Thanks for your help.

Been there many times myself Tim. :D

When you're into it with the test light it goes like this:

    Lower/Float = S1
    Raise = S3
    Right angle = S2
    Left angle = S2 and S3 simultaneously.

You can see why losing the S2 kills both the angle functions.

    Ok, just tested for power.

    S1 (white/yellow) = Power lower/float
    S2 (green) = Power left/right
    S3 (blue) = Power up/left

So, my wiring is ok right? Whats the next step?

If in fact all of your electrical is working properly then it's most likely a bent, stretched or faulty S2 cartridge.

Tip.....make sure that you pay close attention to the #'s stamped on the base of the cartridge. There are numerous ones that look similar but if the #'s don't match up they won't work properly.

Take the one off of your buddys plow to confirm that's what the issue is before you spend more $ for nothing.

I'll give him a call and ask, but I doubt that he'll let me.

What else could it be, if not the cartridge?
