Has anyone ever done plastic welding with success?
I have a plastic salt spreader that needs to be welded.
The material is LLDPE and Im hoping to fix it with HDPE welding rod.
    So...looking for pointers and/or tips....

    Thanks in advance.

done some mostly auto body application. not sure on that exact plastic but the PE leads me to guess thats a polly ethiline (sp?) which is plenty weldable just do a adhesion test ... grind off a a spot weld the end of a rod to the spot... let it cool if it bonds well enough that you have to pull hard to break it off then u can weld that plastic with that rod. from there just press the plastic together at the seem and stitch tamp it before using your rod to weld it. if u are having trouble with penetration then preheat with a heat gun. good luck
