pinging in flexplate area

    i traced the knocing sounds down to the flxplat torqe converter area and some of the teeth on the flexplate are chipped of.it only makes this sound in neutrel and park.any ideas of what it could be!

    It's most likely a cracked flexplate.You can double check to make sure all the convertor bolts are tight.

    One other possibility would be the starter bendix sticking and touching the flywheel,which may have caused the chipped ring gear teeth,but unlikely.
