Does anyone carry a gun while out in the field (truck/sidewalk crew)?

I open carry every day not just plowing snow.

Exercise your rights or lose them.

Have you found that customers feel "uncomfortable" when you open carry? I realize that my saftey is # 1, but I also do not want to come across "thuggie" and keep a professional image.

Yes.....concealed, in the truck there's a 12ga riot shotgun and a pistol in holstered next to the seat.
In the warmer months I carry a compact 9mm due to conceal ability, the cooler months a 1911 .45ACP. If you think about the energy each round has, then take into consideration in the winter people are wearing winter coats, etc... a 9mm is not going as affective as a .45ACP.

If you carry training and an understanding of the laws in you area are a must.

I open carry only when I'm hunting in the mtn's or desert.

IMO people that open carry in public have self-esteem or manhood issues.

Everyday, concealed. Don't like to open carry, it's just not for me. Better to have it than not. I try to get to the range at least a few times a month to stay sharp, but life is hectic sometimes.

I hear that a state senator from MI is making it mandatory that you carry while using a lawn mower. Something about a special interest group from Kalamazoo that was pushing for the ruling for some time.

Glad to see it worked out for ya!

Say " Hi " to Stevie when you get a chance :waving:

I don't open carry, I agree with Buff above. I don't need to show it unless I need to show (possibly use) it. You know the old saying, "Better to have it and not need it than......".

Better read up on brandishing laws, what you described as being need to show is considered it. Best rule of thumb is you pull it you use it otherwise leave it concealed.

If you are in a situation that warrants showing it, you better be using it. Showing without using can be argued in court that you were not in fear for life. This will most likely end in a brandishing a firearm charge.

pointing a gun, loaded, unloaded, toy, finger and hand shaped like a gun here in the socialst republic of NJ, you would ultimately be charged with assault for all the above.

Especially if your finger was loaded.

Oy vey.... have mercy on my loaded finger...
