performance upgrade

  1. i have a 97 F-250HD with 5.8 looking to see what kind up performance thing can do to this. how much tourqe and hp do they have stock

    a chip will get ya 20- 40 horse and some more torque, exhaust,cold air intake

    A chip will get you nothing but worse gas milege on a 5.8 liter. Cold air intakes etc will do nothing for a truck of that nature. If you had a powerstroke it would be a different story but with the gas engine you are throwing money at the wind. Consider a 460 conversion if you really want more power out of that exact truck

    depending on how many miles on the motor you may want to not do the upgrades and skip that idea. if your determined to do so forget the aftermarket parts and send it to a shop for a hi po rebuild. probably looking at four k, i wouldnt have anyone just do it though make sure they know what balance and blueprint means.
    course then you have to wonder if the truck is worth the engine and what will blow in the rest of the drivetrain :D.
