I have an issue with my electric motor it is only 2 years old and it seems I have to gently tap it with a rubber hammer then it works. Is the motor bad or the brushes sticking after sitting ? Don't know if I should swap it out, or just get a new one just in case ..

Internal corrosion most likely, knock it apart and take a look inside. If it's not too bad you can clean it up. But if it looks like the inside of a trash can replacement is best if you need to depend on it.

Be sure to look over the connections as well while you're there.
