Oil pressure

    I have a 1983 Chevy with the 6.2L Diesil, Would anyone know what normal oil Pressure would be for this truck ? at Idle...
    Also Would anyone know a good oil Additive for diesil motors ?

    Hey Brandon,

    A good rule of thumb for oil pressure needs are 10 psi for every 1,000 rpm. So at 2,000 rpm you need at least 20 psi...etc,etc. I believe the GM spec for your 6.2 is 18 psi at idle. As far as oil additives go a lot of heavy trucks use Lucas oil stabalizer. It's suppose to lengthen the life of your oil and it's pretty sticky (kinda like STP) for less wear at start up. Hope this helps
