To fix the problem with the 4x4
It is more then likely the CAD unit on front axle or vac line running to the front axle. Vac line is a simple fix the CAD unit is a bit harder but more then likely the problem. Take the vac bulb off the axle and check to see as you apply a vacuum to it holds vac more then likely you’ll find that is your issue. Temp fix is slide the sleeve inside the axle housing over and reinstall the unit locking both parts of the axle together. Correct fix is get a new vac bulb

Fix the 4x light on the front axle there be a plug right at the vac bulb pull it off turn it 180 deg and put it back on ………..

The junk yard where you got parts - me I’d pay them a visit the differentials they sold you are not the same. 88 they had no rear ABS on trucks in 1990 they put rear ABS into dodge trucks. Housing will have tin piece covering a sensor on top of pinion… they will fit but are not the same. You going to have to remember when buying parts for the differentials that they are 91’s so you can get the correct parts.

The shop that swapped the axles – did nothing to them wrong. The CAD unit was bad when the junk yard sold you the differentials

Finally you’ll get a better or more accurate response if you post the whole issue in this forum
