Just had a dealer install a 7.5' BOSS V plow on my 2000 Z71 1500 Silverado. Problem is I cannot turn the front steering wheel unless the truck is moving. Is this normal? The front end sags a bit so will be cranking on the torsion bars and adding 600 lbs of sand bags in the bed behind the axle. Will that help with the steering problem?

Don't try and turn while sitting still, especially if your in 4 wheel drive.

That is completely normal. Remember, you have about 700 extra pounds hanging 2-3 feet out in front of the truck. Trucks steering is designed with engine weight in mind, not the plows weight, so make sure you are moving when you are turning. And what used to be say a 3 point turn may be 6 or 7 now. Also the weight behind the rear wheels will help with the sag in the front end and the steering, but again, just make sure you are moving when turning. You don't need to be going fast. But usually a little faster than idel is plenty.

Not in 2000. It wasn't available until 2002.

Common issue. Upgrade the power steering pump and then listen to GV's advice from there. :waving:
