I go to the turkey rod run in Daytona every year, and there are many vendors there selling new take out seats from brand new, mostly GM's but some Fords and Dodge. These are from trucks that get conversions, they go for about 250-500,depending on cloth/leather,split bench ,or buckets,or just a plain bench seat.If you go to the Carlisle PA event this summer, they should be there too.If not in Truck, race and recreation magazine,I seen companys selling them.I bought one from a 94 Chevy from one of them, put it in an 89.I paid 275 for a split bench60/40 silverado cloth,it was the best money I spent on the truck. It makes it feel like new again .
----------
John D
there is some hope for ya.....There are seat cushion addition/parts available. I am at work now and the catalog that offers these products is escaping me at the time... but, I will look for it when I get home tonight and will post the name of the catalog for you... by the way i got the catalog online it is a company that puts out a catalog for the 73-86 chevys.....so you will probably enjoy reading in that catalog anyway,,, they have practically everything you could imagine for your truck.
-abe
78 chevy k25 4x4 400ci, turbo 400 tranny, np203 converted to part time.
I also had this problem with my seat, I replaced the broken springs under the seat, they are not that hard to replace, I took them from an old seat that I was throwing away. then I had it recovered, cost about $150.00 It was money well spent. Good Look

The catalog mentioned is put oun by LMC TRUCK. They have a replacement seat cushion for around $199.00. I just replaced the upholstery on my 87 V-10. I ordered the velour cover from Custom Interiors. It included hog rings and pliers and looks exactly as the original did. The cost was under $200.00
JB

For about 300 you can have a brand new bench seat out of a new truck thats a world of improvement over a reupolstered seat,IMO.Either way you'll be happy-by the time you figure your labor to work on seats I would go new.
----------
John D
