I'm about to embark on a repainting project and figured I'd ask you guys first since y'all have been such a great source for info. Do any of you know if the stock paint on my two tone brown 82 1/2 ton is enamel or lacquer? It makes a difference in what kind of paint I can use to paint over it if I don't want to strip it to the metal. I'd rather not have to strip it to the metal since the paint is fine now except for the whole two tone brown part...... thanks

It is most likely enamel, however you can recoat with anything you want. Most paints now are two stage urethanes. With a good primer surfacer over the original paint, any topo coat can be applied. Laquer is a thing of the past, and the chemicals in eneamel are just plain bad stuff.Actually none of it is very good for you.
Dino
----------
Professional Ice and Snow Management
Products:Services:Equipment www.sima.org
