I have been thinking of plowing with my truck is an 01 ram 1500 4x4 5.9 8ft bed with 44,500 i was offered a 8'6 boss v plow which new was $7,500. Never used i know is to big the boss web site said 7'6. He wants to sell it for $3,000 its is a hole set up. I know that im going to need a few thing before i start if i want to plow bigger trans cooler I was also thinking of getting 2500 series front coils. If i dont get the v plow theres a few straight blades around me they are 7'6. for about $2,000. So what should i do and is there any other thing that need to be beefed up???

Personally I think you are crazy if your going to try to put a 8'6" V-plow on a 1/2 ton truck.
JMO but my 3/4 ton same year truck gets worked hard by the same size plow

yep it is too big for your truck.
there is nothing you can do to beef up the front end to handle that plow set up.

2500 coils will be fine but the axle is too small.

IMO if you can get a straight for $2,000 just do that and put some box ends or wings on it. easier on your truck and cheaper.

I have an 01 1500 with a 7.5 straight blade on it. It is almost too much for the front springs. Good luck finding 2500 springs on here. I have put the word out with no luck. You want the 038 and 039 springs. They are off a 2500 diesel with plow prep package. I think the axle on the 1500 is a Dana 40. You would need the Dana 60 for the V-plow.
