If you own a set please let me know

If you own a set please let me know how they hold up?, do you plow with them all the time ?

I was very disappointed in the poor factory bracing, welds looked like the work of a 10 year old
    with a stick welder.

I took both my new sets to a weld shop and had them repair the poor welds
and add extra bracing so they should hold up, not a fan of the lock engineering either, may just
replace the slide locks with bolts..... waiting to see how they hold up...

    Your thoughts ?

    Thanks Al

I agree with the slide locks. Never felt safe with them. Although I never had an issue. I only use them on my bigger lots and on snowfalls less than 5 or 6 inches. Don't want to carry or push that much snow. As far as the welds, I'd say I got a good set. I am a weld inspector and I saw no issues with my welds.

    Compare

To each their own when it comes to equipment, I personally think they are both good plows, each has it own plus and minuses when it comes to owning, operating, wear and tear etc...

As for wings, IMO I think Western has better built wings and attaching then Boss, I have a set of Western wings I had custom modified to fit on my old 8.2 Boss, they will likely out last the new Boss wings....

    Have a great season

I have 2 plows with boss wings one is a vxt and the other is the flatop. I have not had any weld problems or have I had a problem with the latching mechanism. Only problem I had was the brackets that bolt to the plow loosened up and egged out the holes in the plow which is something I should of caught or checked before it got that far. I have never taken mine off once installed they are a great timesaver.

    Thanks for the info

Sno-Pro, many thanks for the info, will keep an eye on the bolts and I plan on leaving them on
if they are holding up ok.....

    Good luck with your winter

Not good to hear that you think the Western wings are better. We have had 4 sets and bent all of them before we put bracing on them. I only have 1 set left for the Vee blade and they have been reinforced enough not to brake I hope.

I was thinking about the Boss wings and an 8'2" but instead I just got the 9'2"
