Ive got a 99 2500 CTD Ext Cab and I have a few issues I would like to solve before plowing this year. Any help on what to do would be great. Just little things but they are annoying.

1 - when you turn on the heat - it stinks, and starts to fog up the windows a bit. - ive let it run still stinks...
2 - back door on passengers side - wont open - fluid filmed it, the bottom latch wont let go.
3 - starting to show some rust over the front wheel well and bottom of the doors. thinking about grinding down what is there a bit, priming it and painting it with a can, then I have a set of fender flares to cover it... ?

Whats the stink? Is it a burning, mold, etc etc? Figuring out what it is easily leads you to a solution.

    1--
The heater core has a small pin hole in it. Is the smell sweet and the windows are greasy?? If so you need to pull the heater core.
    2--
Can you get to the latch with the pasenger door open. If so use a screwdriver to open it up. More than likely there is an issue inside the door wrt linkage.
    3--
Order some aftermarket or oem front fenders for it. Once you put a grinder to the front fender you are going to open a can of worms. As to the doors they are commonly soft at the bottom. Remove as much rust and patch if required. Keep the truck oil sprayed to prevent any more body rot. The rear fenders are also prone to rust issues.

Ill check the windows tomorrow see if they are greasy
I take if you have replaced yours before or had this problem?

the linkage at the bottom wont budge..

You might have to remove the inner door panel to acess the rod which runs from the door handle to the locking mechanism of the door. Not sure if it is possible without breaking the plastic panel tho.

Have you tried the other Dodge forums, they sometimes they can be more detailed than here. Perhaps there is a trick??
