fyi , your block bin is REALLY TALL... looks almost dangerous

one more question, what on earth made you guys mount a dump box backwards on a truck?

What are you talking about, it's a 2 Way dump Box, there all over the place. LOL and just an FYI the salt shed is not dangerous, I've seen it and actually helped put some of it up. DKG is my neighbour, he buys his salt from me by the trailer load.

never ever seen one around here, i have seen a few that tip sideways, but never towards the cab

even seen the spinner under the truck with a v box feeding towards the cab

you guys are neighbors? now i know were all the salt is going

If some one would please repost that pic of JD's salt pile, and zoom out so we could see DKG's pile beside it -

I make salt brine the same way as your pictures. Water in the bottom, up through the salt, drain and filter off the top to a temparary storage vessel, then pump to the big tanks. I use mainly salt brine but will switch when temps warrant. The only time I use a mix is when switching products and there is still other product in the tank.

that makes pretty good sense, so at what temps would you make the switch

are you making it with bulk or bagged salt?

do you also have the problem like van with the mix being stong? and how do you water it down?

That dump box is interesting, What are the benefits of dumping in the center of the truck.
You would think the under side of the truck would rust away after one year

He's using bulk, he has a Coverall full of salt and it's really impossible for brine to be too strong, the water only has so much uptake potential.

A two way dump can be used like a regular dump all summer long and then a real salt truck all winter long and as far as rusting it's not worse then anyother box. The spinner on the front does throw the salt around a little more under your truck which could cause more rust but we have spinner guards to protect that.

Most of those truck bodies were used on road trucks. With the box tilting forward it allows you to drive down the street with the box up and the wind is not trying to lift you front wheels off the ground. There is a conveyor drag chain in the front taking the salt to the side shoot not an auger like the boxes that lift towards the back.
