I am thinking of mixing my own sand and salt this year. I only spread by hand with shovel out of buckets but do use about a yard or so a year. I have neighbor who has old sand pit so I was wondering if you guys think its worth it to do myself and what kind of salt to use and how much should I pay for the salt. I will probably buy salt from hardware store? Thanks for any advise. Tedd

For what you are doing, you want to mix it about 4 to 1. Just use regular rock salt

If your only using about a yard a year I wouldn't waste my time mixing...just go to your local yard and buy it premixed

Throw down sand and then salt on top.
    Carry 2 big containers
