I bought a used meyer mini spreader (holds about 600lbs) on Ebay. The seller said it was a reciever mount. Well it did have the reciever mount but that was it. The unit slides into the reciever and that's it. If you put any sustantial weight on it it would rip right off. What else is missing or what ideas do you have for mounting this thing solidly to the truck? Thanks.

I would guess you'll need a couple of ratchet binder straps to tie the upper corners of the spreader into the bed of the truck. Run the ratchet binders over the tail gate of the truck and attach to tie down points in the bed. This is how our Western 1000 came which has the 2" receiver mount.
