    Looking to purchase new truck mounted spreader and wanted to know weather pintail or auger was better. If you like any specific type of spreader

    I like my polycaster. Plastic doesn't rust too bad. Worked excellent for me last season.
    It has a drag chain. Over this spring summer and fall, I pour bar and chain oil down the chains as it sits on end. Then once in a while I hook the wires up and run the drag chain for a few minutes to keep it from freezing up.

    I bought a boss last year and talked with the rep he told me the auger is best for salt and the conveyer is best for sand.

    Besides that, I love the boss vbx the controller is pretty good too

    Still have an 8000 from 12 years ago
    But the new agur style is better I run 10 of them and no issues
