If your street gets plowed by a University Heights truck and you don't live there, you might want to call the police.

The truck was stolen on or before Dec. 12, from the service yard behind City Hall.

It's a white Ford F250 with the words "University Heights" on the doors, and a Meyer-brand plow on the front. You can't miss it, because the thieves couldn't miss a University Heights garbage truck, which they sideswiped. Thus, the yellow plow blade has white paint on it.

The truck was last seen Dec. 12 on Wagner Avenue, on Cleveland's East Side. Police arrived too late to retrieve it.

University Heights has enough plows to keep the streets open, but police still would like the stolen truck back. It's a 2007 model that still has some life in it.

It carries the city serial number 34-3 and Ohio license plate OZ 1352.

There's a hope that a bad economy and state budget cuts have not forced another cash-strapped city to bolster its snow fleet, but this is Cuyahoga County after all.

Have a heart and give University Height police a call at 216 932-1800 with any information. If you didn't take the truck, they'll be glad to hear from you. And if you did take it, they'll be really glad to hear from you.
