When the plow is in the float position, how much of the lift cylinder should be showing. Also, how high off the ground should the plow be mwhen it is raised?

No real specified rules for these questions...generally what ever works best for your situation. If most of your accounts are relatively level you don't need much cylinder protruding in order for the plow to follow uneven ground.

Same with the lift height, if it'll raise high enough for your liking your good to go. If not, you can always fine tune the chain length until you find the sweet spot in which it works best under most situations. So don't be afraid to experiment some with the chain length.
