Lift chain adjustment

Since I got new tires the plow is installing with some difficulty. I have to seat the mount and then jack up the plow a bit in order to raise the frame enough so that the pins engage and lock. I tried to adjust the lift chain , but I cannot get it out of the frame to lengthen the cahin. It appears that through a couple of seasons of lifting the channel that holds the chain has worn and the chain will not slip out so I can add a link to the length of chain. Any suggestions as to how I can free the chain from the slot? The wear has caused metal from the chain holder to fill in the slot. It seems too tight to get a file in there.

Sounds like it needs some tough love from a hammer.
