If tightening up the packing nut and it still leaks, here is the western part # 25205K PACKING SET W/WIPER 1-1/2".

no one ever mentions the use of farm equipment hydraulic fluid (loaders, skid steers) for use in their plows. Has anyone ever tried it?

Ever seen that stuff when it gets cold out? Use Snowplow Hydraulic fluid. Angelo's fluid is good and is pretty reasonable.
