K-10 frame crack repair and push plate mods

    Ok people this is my second post. I just finished my frame repair on my 85 k-10. I have a lot of pics so I will post what I can.


    Here is the crack on the pass side. The drivers side was also cracked as well.

    A must to have the engine out for that repair. What caused the cracks?

    Common on these trucks is that they crack the frame at the PS box area and also where mine cracked. Also plowing does not help as well.

    Here is the push plate mod I did. I added to both of them and drilled a hole in the plate and the frame. I also plated the inside of the frame where all the bolts go through for the push plates as well.

    This is one of the plate I added to the backside of the frame where the bolt goes through to the pushplate.

    After is all said and done here is the Vortec Headed 350 going into its place.

    Nice work !

    I have repaired a ton of driver side cracks,right behind the steering box,but have never seen the pass side go like that.I usually add a brace from the frame to the front crossmember right by the steering box to prevent it from reoccuring.It looks like you hopefully won't have that problem again.
