i am looking to buy a plow and it said it has a jack on it to lift it up. does that mean you have to jack it up by hand?

I think what that means is: it has a jack on the back of the plow, used when hooking it to your truck, and yes you have crank it by hand :D

This Curtis unit has a hydraulic jack stand it is part of the frame kit.
Do not have a local distributer for Curtis near you?
    you will need parts.

I still can't see it, but no. It is just used to hook the plow to your truck, makes it easier.

This is the biggest advantage of a curtis plow. Once you lift the blade off the ground the jack stand goes up.... what an idea!

    stand

they are great for that aspect but do not try to back drag with out lifting the blade first then lowering it or you can break the hydraulic jack it you hit an obstruction with out raising the stand, they are designed to breakaway ! boss eon's ago used to have a miniature mechanical screw jack like a trailer jack i think It was made buy bulldog, i sold the last new one in existence about 4 years ago it was trick.
