1985 3/4t Suburban with air conditioning:
Replaced fan switch (and noisey fan) a few months ago do to intermittent operation. Had multiple speeds for a few days - then only high speed sometimes. Unplugged new switch, cleaned and bent contacts (on wiring harness) slightly, applied diaelectric grease and got all speeds back for about a month. Now I'm back to high speed - intermittently again. I suspect wiring harness spads are worn, corroded beyond repair? Don't want replace harness of course . . . . . suggestions?

Check the blower motor resistor. It is what gives you the variable speeds.

If it is the actual harness connector at the switch, just replace them with regular spade connectors one by one.

    I'm pretty sure it's a dealer only part.They aren't very expensive.
