ice gone

    how does ice disappear. witout the use of chemicals? it doesn't melt either. got a good ice storm wed and it disappred on my gravel drive. alot of people call it freeze drying. what is the science behind this?

    Evaporation, nature likes to keep things in balance, sort of like when you poor your cold creamer into the hot coffee it spins around and combines until you have equalized the two and are left with warm coffee. The air must have been really dry and gravel has more surface area on it so the ice evaporated pretty quickly.

    well said, hard to believe that ice can evaporate, btw temps were on the 0's. one of natures wonders

    just ask the guys in mountians of Denver, etc. the dry air evaporates.
