Hello, i am hoping someone will able to help me. I have started a partime backhoe business. I recently added a 7 yd single axle dump to to my business to be to haul my machine/fill,etc. Now that i have the truck on the road i was required to apply for a tmt (truck mileage tax) Would someone please explain how the highway use tax works (HUT)? Do I need to log my miles? Do i
log all miles or just loaded miles? Sorry for seeming so dense but this is all new to me! Thanks for all info
Also, I am also curious as to what i should charge for trucking. Is there a formula as what to to charge per yard/ per hour? Any help would be appreciated! thanks

There are 2 ways to calculate the tax:

    1. Based on GVW of truck multiplied by all miles driven

    2. Based on GVW of truck multiplied by loaded miles (obviously this rate is higher per mile)

Thanks for the reply! OK, when saying "loaded" does that include a trailer and backhoe too or just a load of material in the truck? Also what should i charge to haul say a load of sand? THANKS
