how to replace vent window weatherstrip?

I'd like to replace the vent window weatherstrip on my 83 suburban. I bought what I thought was the correct replacement weatherstrip (its a 1-piece unit) and I removed the vent window assembly from the door without too much trouble, but once I had it out it wasn't clear at all to me how I would remove the glass panel and it's frame from the outer frame so that I can remove the old weatherstrip and put the new one in. I removed the bolt from the threaded rod/tensioner/pivot and that didn't seem to do anything useful. Do I have to drill some of the rivets out? If I do, which ones do I drill? What do I replace them with?

    Thanks in advance,

    Joel
