I have a Hiniker C-PLow and the motor is not working; the plow does not go up, down or sideways. I do here clicking at the relays on the firewall.
I ran a pair of jumper cables from the battery to the motor and when touching ground, there were multiple sparks with no movement from the motor.
I checked to make sure that + went to + and - to - and still getting sparks when touching to ground.
Does this mean there is a short in the motor and it's cooked?
    Thanx for your help.

I would say yes. You can remove the motor and try the cables again on the bench.
Fyi,,,,,not proper to post the same issue in 2 different spots.

Would it be worth it to try the motor brush kit or would it be best to spring for a new motor.

I posted the first one by mistake in the wrong forum and I tried to delete the original post but I can't delete it in the "Edit" section.

    No. Members can't delete threads
But I would go the motor route. After I did confirm that the motor is toast

So, to replace the motor would I be removing the four small screws/bolts at the 12, 3, 6 and 9 o'clock positions?

I'd need to see a pic of it to say for sure.

The model # is not correct; it's a #8800 with a SPX power unit. The motor is black and labeled Fenner Fluid Power 4142-AC.

See attached; there are two attachment bolts for the motor but I don't know how to access them.

Ok that's a common fenner motor. Should be 2 Philips on the rear to take that back cover off, then 2 screws holding the motor on.
