My truck occassionaly makes a brief grinding noise when it shifts, I think to 3rd gear. The weird thing is I have an automatic and it sifts fine through the rest of the gears. Took it to a transmission specialist last fall and they told me it shifted better than most vehicles (I guess they didn't notice the noise) but they did give me a $500.00 tune up. The tune up didn't fix it which I figured it wouldn't. I just got a full transmission flush at AAMCO and told the guy at the front desk about hte noise and he said they'd check it out. They must not have found anything either. So now I'm clueless. Not sure if its in the trany or the motor. Maybe the starter is sticking? Any ideas?

Did that change your headlight fluid and muffler bearings too?

Didn't get a price before they started the job? $500 is nuts, even for complete synthetic flush and pan drop and filter. I would never go back there again.
